I met up with Carly and Viggo at the beautiful historic Carillon Garden on one of those famed spring days in Richmond. The light had a wonderful glow although it was probably not just the weather but also due to the radiant love between Carly and Viggo.

Carly is one of those amazing people that have true inner and outer beauty. I met her when I moved to Richmond. She is the Director of the beloved preschool, Mrs. Babs, in the Fan District. Over the years I witnessed her get married and eventually have a beautiful and gentle toddler boy.

Family photography for me offers the opportunity to reveal the intimacy that comes from the arduous job of raising children. As a parent myself, I know how challenging it can be at times, and sometimes even the best of us have a hard time embracing the brilliant chaos that children bring into our lives.

Carly, however, made it look so effortless that I was in awe at her gentle cool under pressure style. I feel so grateful to Carly and Viggo for being authentically open-hearted and joyful all throughout that wonderful spring afternoon.

I can’t wait to see this little guy continue to grow and become a truly exceptional big kid!
