#OnHoldAtHome with Betty

“I love my job and helping people. I think I’m right where I’m supposed to be right now.”

What are your fears and/or concerns right now?

My biggest concern is being a front line worker. I do not want to get this virus and then possibly give it to family, friends or anyone I may have to interact with at work. I take using masks and other safety nets seriously – not only for my health, but the health of the patients I encounter. Their life and health matters to me as much as my family and friends. I love my job and helping people. I think I’m right where I’m supposed to be right now.

What have you learned from living this new normal?

I live alone and have realized that it can be very quiet day in and day out which has prompted me to reach out to older folks I know that live alone, crank up good music while cooking, and dance with my dogs. To be creative in making it less isolating. I’ve learned not to take things for granted like dinner with a friend or going to a movie. That I have so much even when it can feel like so little. I’ve learned it feels good to slow down and to take care of me.

Do you think anything positive will come from all of this

I don’t think a lot of people realized how connected the world really was until we saw how this affected it so quickly. We are just a small piece of a big puzzle. Hopefully, that brings more inclusiveness and understanding that we all make up this world together. And that working together, we are stronger.
